Journaling reads:
"Monday, September 4. Our first full day at Disney World we spent at my favorite park - MGM! The first thing we did was something I had been wanting to do ever since I first heard about it...we rode Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror. What a ride! I don't know how many times my heart felt like it was on the floor. But, I have the honor of being able to say I rode it and lived to tell! Next, we rode Aeorsmith's Rockin' Rollercoaster. There was hardly time to think about being afraid with that ride! CJ kept her eyes closed during most of it. It was her first real coaster ride. She did swell, too.
The day started off very sunny and clear, but, by mid-afternoon, it started to look overcast. I asked about Fantasmic being cancelled - I was in great fear that it would be and it is my favorite of the parks' closing shows . I was told they try their best to do the show. If it is shut down, it is usually because of lightning being within five miles of the park. When it first started raining, we were making our way to the Backlot Tour Ride, but it was shut down for that very reason, so we didn't get to ride it.
While at MGM, we also went on The Great Movie Ride and saw the Muppet 3-D movie, but we spent the majority of our time at the animation studio learning to draw some of the cartoon characters. CJ loves to draw and this was one of the things she was most looking forward to. Since it was raining in the afternoon, that worked out well! We learned to draw Pooh Bear, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Stitch (CJ's favorite character).
We ate at the Backlot Express for lunch and, just a couple hours later, we dined at the Hollywood & Vine restaurant, where our excellent waiter was Ryan and we ate a buffet with food much like that at The Golden Corral, just much better! Eating there gave us reserve seating for Fantasmik. Not long after eating, we got to sit curbside and view the Stars and Motor Cars Parade. It was so nice getting good seats for this so we could see everything up close and not have to try and peek over people's heads, as I had to do last time.
It was sprinkling at the beginning of the Fantasmic show (I had to buy ponchos), but, when they made the announcement that the show would be starting soon, there wasn't a burst of applause - it was more like a full-blown explosion of applause. The show was just as incredible as I remembered and Chantell thought it was great, too.
Extra magic hours extended the park's closing for three hours, but we were both still exhausted from the trip and from all that we had done, so we left the park after 9:00. There were many rides that we didn't ride, but, most I had ridden the last time I was there, so I wasn't sad about it. I was glad that we had had such fun and glad that the Fantasmic show had gone on!"
