Your story telling is outstanding. I love reading about your adventures. Good grief about the heat. We had the same experience in Panama the first time. I thought I would become a raisin with all the sweat!!!
Sunday, February 15th, 2015 – My first day in Adelaide and I was anxious to get out and explore. Bill had been here before but it had been so long ago that it was almost new to him again too!
As soon as we stepped off the ship – we couldn't believe the heat. Barbara, our location specialist had told us that it would be almost 100 degrees and humid. She was serious! We walked a very short distance (5 minutes) to get on the train and we were dripping with sweat by the time we got there.
The train ride was 45 minutes – the air conditioning was on but unable to keep up with the heat, but still, it wasn't scorching hot on the train! We rode all the way to the terminal which was the old railway station and walked around downtown Adelaide for a while. We wanted to see the big fruit, vegetable and fish markets but they were all closed. We walked to a few places near the train station but it was too hot to enjoy anything.
We went back to the train station and got the next train to the Glenelg Beach. We were really impressed with the old town hall which is now a museum. The beach was beautiful with clear green water. We both regretted not having our bathing suits with us!
