Love the colors here. Very beautiful, but masculine at the same time. The word "pastime" looks great on the photo. The journaling is terrific. Great moose stroy! They are so ugly. I've never understood why people who visit Maine are so excited to see one... It's great that you included the loons and ducks, too, as they are virtually ever-present when one is on the water. You've captured this perfectly! Well done. :)
I like the way the word Pastime looks on your photo, but I agree with Jasmine that it makes the title a little difficult to parse. Your photos are gorgeous, and the other elements really compliment them.
ooh! I love the rich colors and the striped pp! My only suggestion is to put "pastime" on the torn striped pp letting it run vertically. It's kinda confusing to read pastime as it seems like it's not part of your title. Other than that, this is well designed and beautifully written!
Beautiful pictures! The colors of the lo go so well with the sentiment - they invoke a very calm, relaxed feeling. I love how the torn paper is stitched to the cardstock behind it.
Some of Larry’s fondest memories were paddles along lakes and ponds close to home in Auburn. Most ponds were surrounded by deciduous forests that replaced their verdant summer colors with rich vibrant colors in fall. Warm fall days he would drift quietly and let the beauty of nature envelope him. Sometimes he would take the camera. Other times he would pack his watercolors and spend hours trying to capture the splendid landscape on paper. Being surrounded by acres of fresh water was so handy. When his brush needed to be cleaned, he would just dip it into the lake. Gliding silently on the water allowed him to get close to wild animals without making them feel threatened.
One day, Larry was gunk-holing along the shores of Lake Auburn when he heard rustling in the marsh grasses. Suddenly the head of a bull moose rose out of the water, his gigantic antlers covered with plant life torn up by the roots. The moose was not handsome by any means but his size was awe inspiring. He looked right at Larry without fear. Larry was face to face with his first bull moose and did not know what to expect, except that if there was a battle, the moose would win. It was only when Larry had back-paddled to a safe distance that he paused to watch the mighty beast forage in the much for his dinner. Not all paddles were filled with such excitement. Most of the wildlife he encountered was birds. In the evenings, he heard the mournful cry of loons calling out to one another. In spring he might see a mother duck and her ducklings in tow. In early fall the ponds were filled with ducks gorging for the long flight to warmer climates.
Larry will treasure these peaceful scenes forever.
The tag 'His favorite' was designed by Jasmine (Scrappinbabe). I used Bazzill Basics cardstock and multiple unidentified patterned papers.
