I like the repeated stripes on this... in the perfectly chosen background pp planks, the striped orangish and white pp, and then again on the journaling strips. The angled photo and the embellishments broke it up nicely too though.
Fantastic page! I love the story behind this layout. I hope you find a way to inlcude in thelayout the extra things you said in this description. They add so much more to the memory. Love the journaling on the vellum. Great idea!
What a fabulous story and a very true quote! LOVE the way you layered this page and that big photo is so fab and so perfect for that quote! Kudos to your SIL for taking the leap, making the lifestyle change and sticking to it! You GO girl! :)
What a great tribute to your sil. I love the saying. I also love what you did here with the smaller photo set on point and the style for your journaling. The stitching and the bg pp are just perfect.
Wow, great journalling, I loved the story.. poem and your style. I almost said.. feeling crabby.. that crab is so darn cute... but that does not go with the lovely sentiment of your layout... what a great tribute.
I love this for all sorts of reasons - the journaling should be an empowering message to us all. The entire lo is so happy - full of love and sunshine. I love the stitching and the sweet embellies. Perfectly designed and executed!
The poem reads: One hundred years from now It won't matter What kind of car I drove What kind of house I lived in How much money I had in the bank Nor what my cloths looked like BUT The world may be a little better Because, I was important In the life of a child.
Author: (excerpt from "Within My Power" by Forest Witcraft)
I felt it fitting for my SIL. She spent a portion of her life worrying about how fashionable she was and where she was "supposed" to be later in life. But after she turned 30 she realized she wanted to take control and do what she wanted to do...so she is now back at school to become a nurse. She gave up her independence (she lives with her parents to save money), she borrows a car to get to and fro, and she has adopted a much more humble lifestyle. Honestly I am so proud of her. But all that change does not come easy and at times we all want to revert back to our old ways. This poem isn't about who she will always be (even though she will ALWAYS be important to her niece), its about who she is now and that she is ok...she is more than that...she IS important.
