What a great and touching story! Animals can surprise us with their empathy. When I lost the man I call "my guardian angel", I would cry silently but no matter if she was in another room, my beloved cat Coco would suddenly come, meowing desperately, climbing on my lap, looking at me and purring. She wouldn't stop till she saw me smile at her. I miss her a lot, she passed away in 2010. Your lo is awesome.
