My entry for the September Scrap Around the World challenge.

This page was made as a commemorative in honor of the lost art of letter writing with pen and paper! And also as a tribute to my Mom, who was a collector of writing equipment, such as desk sets, pens, old inkwells, etc. The photo shows some of her writing tools, which now live on my desk.

Throughout many, many years, after I moved away from home, Mom and I corresponded through letters, written with pen and paper. I have a whole box full of her letters. And I wanted to do a layout using some of them. But, I found it rather difficult to incorporate them into a cohesive whole. So I had to settle for snippets. You can see her distinctive handwriting on this page.

I began with molding pastes, inks, and stamping. Then layered up under and around the photo with tags and pieces of old book pages. Added some fussy cut roses. I included as personal items a pen that belonged to my Mom (left hand side of photo), pieces of old lace from one of her dresses, her handwritten lines, and lock surrounds. In keeping with the writing theme I included a blob of sealing wax, a gift from my friend Patty Rogers. Finished off with some paint splatters.

Thank you for looking, and please know I appreciate any comments you may leave.
