I am so happy that you have such a wonderufl treasure. It IS a treasure!! Perhaps you could lay the pages out and scan them? Lay a pice of black cloth over them and put the cover down, and you shoul get one side at a time perfect. This is just fabulous, I am so excited for you. What a story she wrote, what a glimplse into that time!! I am just so thrilled for you!!
Oh Kathie, this is so lovely. I read all the pages in the journal. What a treasure you have found. You did such a beautiful job of putting it together. While I was reading it, I felt like I was watching one of those historical biographies on PBS. A love story it is, indeed.
This is a page from my grandma's journal from June 1, 1916 through August 22, 1916, from the time she met my grandfather until they became engaged. I wish I could have used the original journal in her own handwriting, but it was written in pencil on both sides of the tablet paper. I typed it exactly as she wrote it. There are a few pages missing, but most of it is here.
