My mouth is watering just thinking about all that yummy garlic infused food. And even though it was a bummer before dinner, what a great opportunity for the kids to start a discussion about mental health. It's such an important issue. Moving on--> I LOVE what you did to create that BG! Wow...was it fun to make or half way through it were you like "sheesh what have I started?!?" Haha
Another page I can lift! We went to the Stinking Rose in Beverly Hills for Mothers Day last year. SOOOO good and my son actually ate what he ordered! Love that brick bg (perfect for that place!) and love your title work!
I am such a garlic fiend... think I know a place I need to visit now. I like the "messed with" brick background. I don't think those are the sorts of backgrounds you are supposed to recreate. Great photos on this too.
Excellent.......if ever back in SF I would love to see this place......your page is fabulous.....and it truly is a beautiful creation that is one of a kind. Love it!!!!
love all the texture! You really rock the texture. I have yet to try it and have bought the stuff. You inspire me to want to open the bottle! Love the title! SUPER FUN!
wow, your bg is amazing! As I'm sure it was a lot of work, the results are stunning! An overall superb layout with the bg, journaling, and the photos say a lot.
Wow, the brick wall may have taken days to create but it was worth the effort! Looks fabulous, and I love your title work; even though you weren't able to use the fonts you really wanted, it still came out great.
Oh my gosh Lily - this is awesome! That brick wall is wonderful - looks like an old brick wall with all the texture and dimension! You nailed it! Great journaling - you really told the story and made me feel like I was with you that day and lot more than just photos alone could do. So many little details you will forget and smile when you go back and read it. That restaurant sounds like a place I would like to try next time we are in the city. I love garlic - Bill love love loves garlic! This is on the list of things to do next time we are there! Thanks for the review. Great page Lily - I should say - another great page!
What a lovely time you had!! Seeing your pages reminds me of all the fun we had while living close to SF! Your style is spot on for your pictures and love how you fit in the journaling! Even take the time to journal, something I have to work on this year. You have given me some motivation to work on that, as well as your use to templates in ink for texture/dimension.
the background was actually just playing with my brick template, paste and color. i took a few days because I had to keep messing with it and letting it dry. I probably couldn't recreate it if i tried
Journaling:
When in San Francisco, all you have to do is "follow your nose" and it will lead you to one of The-City-By-The-Bay's most unique and entertaining dining experiences... The Stinking Rose: A Garlic Restaurant.
Located in North Beach, San Francisco's renowned Little Italy, the "original" Stinking Rose has become famous for celebrating the culinary euphoria of garlic and serving over 3,000 pounds of the pungent herb each month. Named after an historical term for "garlic", The Stinking Rose offers scrumptious, contemporary California-Italian cuisine prepared and adorned with garlic
Even though it's a bit of a tourist trap, we decided to visit this pungent landmark with the whole group. While we were waiting for our table we had a bit of a run in with one of the more colorful homeless people. I think the kids were a bit shaken by it but it did lead to a conversation about meanl illness and the plight of the homeless. other than that it was a great time. The food was delicious and the company even better. We started off with their famous garlic soaking in a hot tub--phenomenal. My cioppino was some of the best I've had.
