Oh no Bueno! Being sick on vacation sucks! But what a wonderful customer service you received! Good for you for formally commending her to her managers! Love how you layered all the leftovers here! I always vicken out of using scraps!
Poor Tyler, being sick on vacation is a major bummer. But we have to scrap the good with the not-so-good, don't we?! I love the grungy style you chose here. Great stamping and splatters (no pun intended, lol).
oh, wow, what a story, and your journaling of it was like it happened yesterday. I'm glad to hear that someone was able to help you out and she did it out of her heart...human decency at its best :) Great page, great layering, and so many different papers and colors added.
oh no!!! that is quite the story and only a scrapper would document the event so perfectly!! Your background, colors and design fit the story perfectly.
Poor baby! Your journaling is fantastic. Love when people are caring and go out of their way because they are good people and dont expect or want anything in return! You really do fantastic work making the papers look super cool!
I hope she didn't get in trouble for leaving her post to go to a convenience store! But what an awesome lady! I am glad it was nothing serious but oh he must have felt so bad and it will probably be a long time before any more clam chowder passes those lips.
Interesting story..glad you wrote a letter to the company. Love the title and the photo....poor kid...poor all of you. Does he hate clam chowder now even though it turned out to not be the culprit.
love the distressing, goes great with the subject - what a stellar lady to do all that for you & your DS- that's awesome you also wrote the hotel & gave her the credit - awesome page
I guess dirty them up works when layering scraps that may or may not work together because this looks dynamite!! Looks like you spend hours and hours planning all the details!! Love it!!
You are so creative - using all your scraps and inking, texturing it all! Great journaling and how wonderful of that woman to do all that for you. That's customer service!
First off let me say poor boy! It is no fun being sick but especially not away from home! And wow what a sweet lady! She really did go above and beyond! If only there were more people like her in this world! As for the layout itself it is great - I think you did fabulous with the one photo and way to use up so many scraps!
Your story was amazing on so many levels. I felt so bad for your son and ultimately, your family but the act of true compassion displayed by the lady was truly inspirational. I was touched you took the time to write to the hotel praising her. People don't do that anymore. They only complain it seems. Your stamping intrigues me. You have a gift of placing the stamping in such a way I don't even realize it is stamping. How do you do it? LOL!
You may not like one photo layouts but you did an amazing job w/ this! I love how much you put into it... there's just so much to look at and it all works beautifully.
Oh Lily - what a terrible ending to a wonderful family vacation! All of you sick! Glad it didn't hit any of you when you were flying home! I've enjoyed your San Francisco layouts - one of my favorite places and a place I want to go back. I lived in San Jose for 7 years - not to far from the city and didn't get to the city by the bay nearly often enough.
Finally, the layout about the sickness I've been alluding to in all my other san francisco layouts. I've been putting this one off because I really don't enjoy one photo layouts. I think I've reached maximum density because I had no idea where zi wanted to go with this one. I actually just used all the leftover scraps on my desk and started layering them. The I dirtied it up.
Journaling On our second day in San Francisco we decided to drive down the coast to Santa Cruz. Unfortunately, the boardwalk was closed but we found a fun seafood restaurant to check out. Tyler thought it'd be fun to try something new to him-clam chowder He loved it! Later that night he woke up in the middle of the night saying he was sick. We figured it was his usual habit of sleepwalking. He quickly informed us that he wasn't and that he was going to throw up. We rushed him to the bathroom intime for him to throw up in front,of the toilet, and in the toilet and in the shower. It was everywhere. I did what I could to clean it up (and him) with towels. We made a call to the front desk to let them know what happened and ask them to bring us some cleaner. You can imagine how the room smelled!. At this point Madison took her blankets and was sleeping in the hallway. She's nothing if not adaptable.
About ten minutes later the lady from the front desk showed up. Apparently they have very little staff late at night. The poor lady proceeded to get our bathroom spotless. I felt terrible as it really wasn't her job. Then she fussed over Tyler a bit and asked if she could get him anything. I thought maybe some ginger ale would help. Well when she didn't come back with it until about 45 minutes I wondered what happened. Apparently the kitchen was locked so this poor lady walked around at about 2 am to find an open convenience store. Talk about customer service! When all was said and done ai tried to give her a sizable tip since she had gone completely out of her way to help us. She wouldn't take it! I was shocked! She said she was just helping out. Well, needless to say when I got home I wrote the hotel a glowing letter explaining what she had done for us. I hope she got a raise!
After all was said and done, Tyler spent the next day in bed with a fever. We just assumed it was food poisoning. Luckily he felt better for the flight home. Well, the day we got home we all ended up sick. Turns out it wasn't the clam chowder at all but a stomach virus.
