This is my first ever altered canvas and I really enjoyed making it, although I was a little intimidated by how to fill it with color. It also took me a while to figure out what colors to use! I made this for a dear lady that belongs to our church. She has been going through some tough times dealing with her daughter having pancreatic cancer. I hope this will bring her some comfort.

I have had this canvas for at least two years and finally put it to use! Lots of goodies on here. Several metal pieces on here were given to me by my best friend. The flower in the corner of the verse is one I made a few years ago from a Gabrielle Pollacco tutorial. I never cared too much for the paper color so I thought I would use it on this so it would be covered up in my chosen color scheme. The flower in the lower right was an old clip-on earring. I think I got it at the local antique store. The flower at the top to the right of the "hope" square was actually part of an earring I made years ago. Several metal pieces from Tim Holtz, some from Hobby Lobby and others I've had in my stash that I ordered online and can't recall where I got them! Laces from Walmart and Gone Artsy. Small doilies are also from Gone Artsy. Clear and green glitter glass as well as the gold microbeads are from Reneabouquets.

The first thing I did was to use my homemade texture paste over a couple of different stencils. Then added drywall tape, cheesecloth and laces. Next was my verse, the Faith chippie and Dusty Attic scroll that I cut in half and laid on either side of my verse. Then all of my embellies were added. I then covered everything with two to three coats of Gesso, especially the metal pieces and colored pieces. Basically made everything white. Then, what colors to use? At first I thought of gold and silver. I only have a few mist sprays and ended up using the turquoise and green. The turquoise is some I made myself a few years ago! I also used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in the color Mantis, Ranger Perfect Pearls mist in Heirloom Gold and Perfect Pearl. After I was satisfied with the colors I then added Perfect Pearls mica powder (Perfect Gold and Perfect Pearl) by dipping my paint brush in water, then in the powder and painted a lot of my embellies. Then I added Ranger Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint to my title and the half circle at the bottom. Last came the microbeads and glitter glass on the angel wings (clear), the butterfly and bird at the top right (green). To protect my verse, I added a coating of Mod Podge Gloss.

I hope you like my project! Thank you so much for stopping by my gallery! I appreciate your kind words more than you know!! xo

I have entered this in the Tresors De Luxe monthly mood board challenge! What an awesome mood board this month!
