After we left Hawaii we landed in Washington DC. Even though we were on a military hop, sometimes they land in commercial airports. Weird, but they do.
What is really odd is that military hops are free - that is why we are able to fly around like we do. However, when the land in a commercial airport they charge $15.00 each - you read it right - $15.00 each because of charges the military has to pay to land in a commercial airport. I have been on a military plane that landed in a commercial airport at least 4 or 5 times and we had to pay $15.00 each time.
We got a hotel in DC for the night and then spent a couple hours the next day touring Washington. We agreed we will go back, it was just a "passing through tour."
First we went to the Lincoln Memorial - we couldn't find parking so I got out to see it and take pictures while Bill drove round and round looking for parking which he never found.
The background paper is 12 x 12 scrapbook paper I purchased. I did not take that fantastic picture - I don't have the camera equipment that would take it (Wish I did!). In only took the smaller picture.
