Visit to San Diego to visit Bill's daughter and her family. This was taken at the Bob Hope Memorial Park.

I love that statue of the sailor kissing the nurse. It is called "Unconditional Surrender and is huge!" YOu can see Bill standing by the base of it.

The reason we love it so much - we first stumbled across a statue identical to this in Civitavecchia, Italy which is the port city for Rome. It has the plaque identifying it as Unconditional Surrender.

After we took the picture and posting it on Facebook Bills daughter told him, "That statue is here!"

When we went to San Diego we discovered that it was indeed the identical same statue.

After a little research, we discovered that there were 3 of these monster statues made - one was in Civitavecchia, one in San Diego and one on the east coast of Florida but I don't know where, I've forgotten but that is the only one we have not seen.

Last year or 2014 when we were in Italy again we spent a day in Civitavecchia and went to see the statue we love so much and it was gone! Just the pad it was sitting on remained. I keep forgetting to get on the internet and to find out where that one went!

I would like to see it in its new location and I would also like to see the one in Florida we haven't gotten to yet.
