My first canvas. My main obstacle was adhering everything to the canvas because I didn't want to just glue it together and it fall apart on her later. So I basically used brads or sewed everything down, since they would poke through the burlap canvas well. I finally got to play with my Tim Holtz Crazy Birds and Crazy Things stamp sets, his marker set, watercolor paper, and basically everything TH in my stash. Made this for my cousins 50th bd and it represents me (w/paintbrush in my wing), my hubby, and my daughter. I used white watercolor paper, and TH markers with water. Although I was skeptical it would be better than cardstock, the water color paper did allow me to work with paints/inks easier, doing many layers of diff inks, without tearing my paper. When I was all done, I used the TH stencil on the left part of the sky then wiped off some of the paint with a baby wipe (I wanted it to be subtle). BTW, I just LOVE the Honey Tim Holtz color - I always end up using it on everything. I used seam binding for the bow and inked it up (Victorian Velvet, Vintage Photo & Crushed Olive), crinkled it up and let it dry. Layered it over a bow made out of cheese cloth. She loves everything burlap and shabby chic, and these are her favorite colors that she decorates with, so I tried to add some white and lace touches to the kraft colors. Hope you're all having a great day and getting your hands messy!
