That is soooo cute!!! What a priceless gift to receive!! Your textures and technique work are great and I love the embellishments! Those birds crack me up!
After I made the first canvas for my cousin's 50th BD, I thought I'd try to make this into a bride and groom canvas, using Tim Holtz's crazy birds and crazy things stamps, etc. The gorgeous wedding was at a barn, and their colors were light pink. They decorate with all neutrals so I tried to resist the urge to add too much color. The bride had a fit and asked me where in the world I bought it and then flipped out when I said I made it for them. You could SEE her being melted. Priceless. First, I added the wide stretchy lace along the bottom half, used the T.H. inks/pens to create the ground, then double stamped the birds, water coloring them with the T.H. markers. The T.H. grunge board hinge I painted black, then used T.H. crackle, let dry, then distress inks in the cracks. I REALLY loved how the hinge turned out (click on to see detail). The square "scene", and fence, bow, etc. were adhered to the burlap canvas (H.Lobby) with either brads or wire, for sturdiness. I also made the shabby ribbon (on left, hanging down) with T.H. markers (Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo, and Wild Honey). Their wedding date (on heart "sign") and the "Love One Another" were just printed off my printer onto Kraft cardstock. I used Glossy Accents to adhere the mini rose in the groom's "wing", and the pearl necklace onto the bride. I also used Glossy Accents on all beaks, the pink hearts, the flower in the bride's hat, and the groom's hat band to make them shiny like epoxy stickers.
