This is another view of the easel by itself. The brad helps hold up the frame and the back had to be that long to keep the heavy piece from falling over.
These are the fronts of the two pieces. There are magnets applied under the purple sheet and behind paper covering on the actual frame section as well.
This is a frame that can be kept as is or taken apart so that a photo can be displayed in the opening. Magnets (from the back of an old magnetic shopping list) were used to allow for this.
The idea for this project came into my head when I read the rules for the NSD For the Love of Crafting (Project) Challenge. I've been thinking about doing something like this for a while but just needed the motivation I guess. Well, the motivation for this one kept me up all night. It is my favorite project of the "moment" most likely because I finally finished it to my satisfaction. I think it turned out really pretty... if not exactly as I originally pictured it. (My creations never do though.)
I love crafting because it gives me a chance to create something unique that no one else can do. I don't know that I'm really good at it (or rather I fit the popular style of the moment), but I certainly enjoy the challenge of creating a look that pleases me. While, I seldom get it right in the first try, there is a joy even in the accidental little pretties that come from doing it not quite right the first time, and I certainly experience(d) those a lot on a project such as this. :)
For the Die Cut Discovery Challenge I took a Sizzix extended die and cut chipboard that in decorative papers for my base. I also created the big leaves from another Sizzix die called Daisy- Sculpting Of course the butterflies (two layers of vellum and one of regular cardstock) and other foliage are also by Sizzix. The flowers are also by Sizzix - including the fluffy purple ones (which are just dyed dryer sheets).
For the Color Challenge, I tried to make good use of pink, green, blue and purple. I don't know that I matched the tones shown perfectly, but those basic colors are definitely represented. I used distress ink, distress ink reinkers, papers, rhinestones and Stickles etc. to do all that.
