This is why I craft, why I choose scrapbooking as my medium of choice. I love art and drawing/painting were a large part of my school years. I stepped away from it for a time, with college and then working I just didn't have much time. After I got married I started feeling the pull to crafting. Aside from knitting and writing (and reading) and occassionally sketching I needed something to do with all the thousands of photos DH and I take. I fell into scrapbooking by accident and I've never looked back! It is my balm, my peace (most days) and my way of stepping away from the rigors and obstacles of life. It's also my drug of choice - like the smell of new paper! LOL If I'm away too long, I start to get edgy. Hubs can tell I need a creative outlet and, even through all his health problems, he finds ways to leave me to it. Well the last four years, my focus and my reason for scrapping has been our son and now our daughter. Some times I love a page, and sometimes I obsess about them or find things I could fix every time I look at them, but every once in a while a page comes along that is my mathematical centerpoint on the Cartesian coordinate system, 0, 0, 0, 0 (Big Bang Theory fans will recognize this as Sheldon's "spot" description.) Everything just comes together perfectly!

I got this idea in my head sometime ago, but didn't know what photos I'd do. And what papers, and how to embellish it. I started with a rough sketch (included here) and then added the title when I found these three (of eight total) photos I took of my babies on Valentine's Day this year. It took me eight tries and lots of bribery and STILL I could not get one photo of both of them looking at the camera and smiling!!! GAAH!

But I LOVE that they can make each other laugh and are so close right now. I know they'll eventually but heads and then fight (they already do now she is mobile!), but it is my eternal hope that they will always bring the happiness and love to each other. Hence the title - Be the Rainbow in Each Other's Day.

This is why I scrapbook. I'm leaving advice, love, memories and a tiny piece of me just for them.

Entered in the NSD Rainbow and Embellishment Challenges as well. I used a wide variety of embellishments - cardstock, washi, stickers, sequins, metal, wood, rubons, buttons, brads, vellum, twine and tags. WHEW! But I'm so very happy with the end results!

Also for my Hoarder's challenge with the (very late) NSD twist - taking a photo of your hoarded items to be used and using nothing newer than a year. I might have fudged that part a bit with the letters, but just about everything else here is at least a year old - or more! And I'm proud to say that, other than the blue bg, I did not cut into a single new piece of paper - everything was scrap paper - some I've had stashed for YEARS! (See pic here).

TFL!
