I had fun drawing wax streamers onto the turquoise-dyed egg, creating the furling feather strands. Then I washed out the dye (although it remained wherever the wax covered a color), added a smearing of mostly-rubbed-off gold paint for highlighting interest, removed the wax and then varnished the blown egg to preserve the design.
