Leaving Sydney Heads was very exciting and we were lucky enough to score a space on the helipad deck right at the furthermost point of the ship. It was so quiet and as we moved out of the harbour the sun had set and the sky deepened into a navy blue.
The water was calm and it looked like we were gliding across a glass pond. I had been afraid that I would be sea sick but it was peaceful and very calm.
Unfortunately, we had just cleared the heads when the engines ground to a stop and the ship started to turn. I said to my friend we were turning and the next thing the Captain announces we had to return to Sydney as there was a medical emergency. Of course there was! Only to me would something like this happen.
The return to port and set sail again set the cruise 2 hours behind but the Captain and crew made that up throughout the night while we slept.
Sydney Harbour really is lovely and I was so excited to be able to record the sailing between the famous heads.

It was a perfect night and something that I really wanted to do. The absolute silence is something I will always remember and everytime I look at these photos I remember standing at the front of the ship and thinking.....wow imagine the first convicts coming across the sea in those wooden tall ships, how frightening it must have been to be surrounded by nothing but dark skies and darker water.
