Saturday, April 12th, 2014 – Very quiet day. Bill plays chess for hours on most sea days; sometimes after breakfast until time for morning trivia. He plays again after trivia while I attend the computer class, then he sometimes plays after lunch until afternoon tea. After the last trivia he goes to the library where the chess boards are and plays a few more games until time to get ready for dinner. After dinner he sometimes goes back to the library and plays a few games and I either work on my scrapbook pages in the library with him or I go to the piano bar to listen to Debby Bacon.

Several months ago Bill and I went to the library on the 5th floor and one of the ladies who serves coffee at the Explorations Café' (in front of the library) told Bill, “None of your playmates are here right now. They all went to lunch.” She's a lovely girl from Manila and had no idea she had said something funny, she was just being polite.

After that, whenever Bill wanted to go play chess he would tell me, “I'm going to go to the library to look for my playmates now.”

Actually they have formed an informal chess club and call themselves ‘The Gentlemen's Amsterdam Royal Chess Club'.

At dinner tonight we were talking about the chess club and told them the name was ‘The Gentlemen's Amsterdam Royal Chess Club' and Wendy said, “Okay, we will just call it GARCC for short.” Then I started teasing Bill that he had left me for the “Garcc side” and we all got a good case of the giggles. We don't usually like the formal dinners but it was fun tonight!
