You know DD is REALLY into Dinosaurs. This morning she was watching a Dino show and they talked about how fossils are made from Dinosaurs. When she watched the figure of the Dinosaur dissolve into bones, the bones be covered by dirt and time, and then dug up again it all clicked. She now "understood" death. She turned around and asked me if everything dies. "Yes, everything alive eventually dies," and then I reminded her about the plant life cycle....thanks to our garden she has a good understanding of this. She then asked if Sunny was going to die some day. Gulp! "Yes, someday she will die." "Mommy, will the Dinosaurs at Dinosaur World Die someday?" Ok if she wants to believe those statues are alive..."Yes someday they will die." "But won't their mommies and daddies miss them? Mommy am I going to die some day?" Gulp!! "Yes, because you are alive someday, a long long time from now, you will die." As both of us started to feel the sadness creeping onto the room she asked, "when I die, will you hold me mommy?" TEARS!!! Ok I couldn't take it anymore. "Yes of course, I will always take care of you sweetie!" Lots if big hugs and we were both done talking. About 5 minutes later she decided she wanted to paint. And as I watcher her and thought about how wonderful she is I decided to take a picture. This is that moment. It brings a different kind of tear to my eyes every time I see it. My life is so much better for her being in it. What a beautiful coincidence when this new song released that week. Its called "Better Place" by Rachel Platten. I added it to the LO....its more in the BG because its more of a reminder to me...not journaling for the LO. Here is the song.
