How interesting the origin of the song. I thought he was talking about the virgin Mary too. It gives a whole new spin on it. Love how you placed the photos. I need to mix it up and use different sized photos. thanks for the inspiration.

I remember being stunned that the the song Let It Be referenced his Mother - remember when we stopped there that the tour bus guide told us sometimes Paul actually goes there too!

How interesting to find out the meanings of some of the lyrics. Now "Let it Be" makes a bit more sense. Yellow Submarine always seemed a bit like a "trip" to me- (lol) - nice to know some of it was from books.

The Magical Mystery Tour bus took us by schools attended by the members of the Beatles, where they hung out, where they grew up and different houses where they lived.

We also earned a lot about the meanings behind many of the songs. Of special interest – when the Beatles started having problems within the group and weren't getting along very well Paul was having trouble sleeping at night because he was worrying about the band.

Paul's mother, Mary, had died earlier and whenever he was having trouble sleeping his mother appeared to him and gave him advice that he embraced. Her advice to him about whether to leave the band was to “Let It Be” – it would all work out for the best. That is when he wrote the song, “Let It Be”. “In my hours of darkest trouble Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, Let it be… Let it be.” I always thought he was talking about the Virgin Mary but actually he was talking about his mother and the advice she gave to him. After learning that and listening to the song while we were on the tour, the song made a lot more sense.

Many of the things in the songs, such as the walrus, the yellow submarine and the octopus under the sea were memories John had from early childhood books that were read to him.

I knew that the Beatles were first the Quarrymen but I did not know they got the name from the high school they attended, Quarry High School in Liverpool. At first the band was a swinging door of members – they went through several drummers and other band members before it became John, Paul, George and Ringo – the four members who reached stardom together.

It amazes me how young they were. George was only 14 when he joined the band and John was 16!
