This was the last monument on the road. There were others not in the park (well, they had been at one time but the National Park returned land to the city for expansion) which we decided not to try to find this trip.

The circles and holographic stars are extra ones that I punched for a Lo early in the beginning of August. They were sitting on my desk and I needed a little something. The entire background is made of scraps.

The pics of the panels are taken from the Internet. I have a postcard - somewhere , but with all the packing up I couldn't find them.

Journaling: Our tour of monuments and memorials ended with an impressive bang. The last monument we came to before exiting the South Loop is the Iowa Memorial, one of the more elaborate in the park. It was dedicated on November 15, 1906, and construction completed in 1912. The memorial is constructed of Vermont white granite. The Greek-Doric structure is semi-elliptical with six bronze relief panels which depict successive engagements in the Vicksburg Campaign. They are quite detailed and we spent some time looking at them
