Page 700 - Volume Challenge - Belfast, Northern Island

Saturday, July 19th, 2014 – this morning when we got up we were in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but it was foggy and drizzly – really a mess. Not a hard rain but it might as well have been. We were just glad this weather waited for today instead of greeting us yesterday morning in Liverpool.

We were not real enthusiastic about going to Belfast – after so many port days in a row we were tired and Belfast didn't seem all that exciting. We weren't gung-ho to really do anything, partially because we didn't think we would like Belfast and partially because the weather was so dreary.

We started by taking the ship's shuttle into the center of town and then going to the information center. The information center offered free internet so we spent some time catching up on our email and Facebook from the past 2 or 3 days.

Then we got on the hop-on hop-off bus. That is when I knew we had underestimated Belfast.

The architecture on the old buildings was fabulous! There were some gorgeous old structures very much worth seeing! We knew there was a good bit of Titanic history here but we really weren't interested since we had already seen the Maritime Museum in Halifax with the Titanic exhibit and we had also visited the cemetery where most of the Titanic victims were buried. We just didn't think there would be many more Titanic things or places of interest to us.

Then we went by the shipyards where the Titanic was built!
