Beautiful and sweet layout. Loved the story, and that little princess crown! I applaud the vet for helping with the local police departments canines, as usually they do not have the budget for this much-needed care of the canines (who put their lives on the line as well) and are depended upon corporate or private donations. Sure he meant well, but totally understand, how could you? You're right, "pet-for-life!"
The people at my animal shelter giggled when they read my response to their question, "What would make you have to return your pet" and my answer was "NOTHING!!" Our pets are our family! Thanks for sharing your story! She really is as cute as a doll!
About 19 years ago I had rescued two girl kittens from our local shelter and one got sick and she never recovered even after we went to the vet. So my son got a boy cat he named Buster. So after Ooma & Buster passed I waited awhile and told my husband I was going to get my two girl kittens that I had always wanted from my boss who was part of a rescue group and my husband let me know he didn't really want me to get kittens but of course I did and I named them Doll and LeeLee. Shortly after we got Doll June 2012 I noticed she had trouble breathing and my husband took her to the vet since I had to go to work and he called me at work to tell me they wanted to take x-rays and asked what I wanted to do? I asked him what do you think and he laughed and said remember I was the one who didn't want kittens! So we did the x-rays and found that her breast bone was growing up into her chest cavity and affecting her breathing. Doctor said it would cost about $2,000 dollars to correct the problem and I was beside myself about it as we had never spent close to that kind of money on all of our adopted pets. The vet called and said that a local orthopedic and surgery service vet would like to consult with us. This vet was less than a mile from us and I had never heard of her. So she told us they would do the procedure for $800 all inclusive and of course we said yes! She used a needle and thread like she was making a buttonhole and went down under the chest bone on one end and came up on the other side and attached the thread to the buttons you see on her splint. We went to the vet twice a week for the first four weeks and she was so cute in the wrap as it was always purple or pink and she walked like a bull dog after her visits where she got adjusted and you can see her working at removing the wrap in the middle pic but it was to no avail and she learned to live with it until she had another visit. Needless to say we loved the doctor and she loved Doll. She would take her from us and walk into the backroom saying here comes cuteness, Doll is here! P.S. When I told my DS Adam about the vet he got excited and said Dr. A was the bomb because he had taken his pitbull Indica to her and I also learned she worked with the police dept helping with their canines. This is for the Oct Inspiration, Use Your Stamps and Multi pic Challenges. Thanks for the love this story was hard to tell because my boss had said you can give her back and pick the other girl from the litter and I got emotional and told her that I had always told my boys that when we got a pet it was our pet for life! THE END
