At last, my brain child has come to fruition! I've had this idea in my head since I saw these gorgeous G45 Enchanted Forest papers back at a crop in October. It took me some time to finally pull the idea from my head, like a silvery memory and mold and shape it into a tangible thing - that I am SO happy with!

The idea behind this altered book box has to do with my reading obsession. I have been a voracious reader since I was a little kid. I love the way I can pull out a book and escape, relax or be entertained for minutes, hours, days and a lifetime. Many books I read are simply a quick break, but there are some that transform you as the reader. When I saw this G45 line, I saw in my mind what happens when I open a book. So I wanted to capture that feeling in some form of art. Et voila!

My idea was to keep the outside mostly plain, like many vintage books. Usually the cover is bare or has little to no title and only a frame or some ornate design. (I tried cuting one on my Cricut, but it just didn't fit right. Then the spine has a little bit of interest with the title and maybe a picture or drawing. I actually used the kraft paper to round the end of the book box so that it looks like a book spine - love how it came out! That frame on the front is a wood piece I picked up at a local store and it just fit so perfectly I had to use it! Keys, ribbon, metal heart and corners were found in my stash.

Entering in my Hoarders Challenge as I used lots of old stash for embellishing (flowers, hardware, fibers); for National __ Day: Feb 26th Tell a Fairytale Day; Mixed Media Challenge (no paint twist); and for Graphic 45's Challenge. TFL!
