Impressive LO. Cute photo and story of how it came to be. Definitely fits the day I think. Like the misting and die cutting idea. Like the stitching on the flower and the fussy cut flowers too. Also like what you did with the title letters.
This was such a fun page to make! I was inspired by a tutorial I found over the weekend by Missy Whidden and I scraplifted the idea. Here is the link to her LO on here:
and you can search the tutorial on YouTube by looking up Bella Blvd's Illustrated Faith paints.
I loved how she painted over a printed paper and then cut layered flowers on her die cut machine. I also loved how she did the bg so I decided to try it myself. I don't have those paints *gasp*, but I did have mists. As for the topic, I had been inspired by this photo and the Feb National ____ Day challenge to scrap Hoodie Hoo Day (yes, that IS a day). The day has to do with going outside at noon on the day and yelling 'HOODIE HOO' at the weather, meaning 'That's enough' or something. I live in So Cal so needless to say our winters are mild. But I happened to be out one night with my DD and it had started to rain. I put her hood up and then I put mine up and she thought that was hilarious. So of course we had to take a selfie. After I took it I thought 'HOODIE'!!! So that was my take on National Hoodie Hoo Day (seriously... look it up... it does exist!) LOL!
I busted out an old paper line I received at my last Expo.... when I was still pregnant with my DD. I gesso'd randomly over the 'XO' piece and then misted like mad. (Next time I won't gesso if I mist because the gesso prevented the mist from absorbing in the paper and i had to mist several times to get that lovely color mix. Lesson learned!) After letting it dry (a while), I used my Cricut and Gypsy to cut a bunch of layered flowers from the Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge. Then I stamped some flowers around the bg and fussy cut those roses from the paper line and then layered the flowers over. I also loved how Missy stitched her largest flowers so I did that as well. The title was tough because, of course there isn't a 'Hoodie' word in all my Thickers *double gasp*! SO I made one! Then I stamped the 'stitching' on the edges, inked, splattered, dotted and journaled. Came together fast and I am so loving it!
