My friend Sue Ann has a granddaughter, Krista, who is graduating with honors from Ohio University. I wanted to help celebrate this bright young lady and her achievements so I made this card especially for her.
Not only is Ohio University's mascot the bobcat, but I know Krista is a total cat lover. So I had to get out an adorable stamp set by Clearly Besotted called, You're Purrfect and customized three of the kittens to make them look like adorable bobcats. First I googled lots of bobcat pictures so that I could get a sense of their striped/spotted coloring. After several trials, I figured out the color combination and light touch needed for the Copic coloring. Then I doodled to make the leaping kitty have more almond shaped eyes and added wisps to the tips of all the kittens ears. I also docked all the kitty tails when I fussy cut all the kitties so that they would look more like bobcats.
Then to make the CAS card, I used Lawn Fawn ABC dies to die cut out OHIO U. (using a hole punch for the dot). Then I created a shaker pocket with some plastic sheeting and my fuse tool, filling the pocket with green and black sequins (Ohio U's colors). Lastly, I used an old paw print stamp, colored with Tim Holtz Distress Marker in Pumice Stone to add a little more visual interest and cuteness across the whole card front.
I hope this card brings a smile to Sue Ann and her granddaughter's faces. I love celebrating and lifting up young people doing good things through my crafting. :)
