In case the journalling isn't readable here is the gist of what happened that day.
I went in for a checkup at ~11 weeks. The doctor decided to check for the heartbeat via the Doppler. After changing batteries and trying two different ones he decided to send me to the ER because he couldn't hear a heartbeat. Of course I was panicking and dh was out of town for work so I called my work to cancel my patients for the morning and went to the ER. Soon as I got there the residents told me 11 weeks is too early to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler usually. They tried anyway and couldn't find it either - they brought another resident and the real ultrasound machine in and did an ultrasound and baby was perfectly fine and showing off by rolling and kicking. OB that saw me after the residents also said 11 weeks is too early and doctor shouldn't have even tried and freaked me out! My employers and coworkers were upset as well he had worried me for nothing as one of my managers is married to a doctor and she had called him right away when I had called in to work and he also said it was too early. Our receptionist later that day was having lunch with her dh and happened to run into one of the best family doctors in the city who also happens to deliver babies (not all of them do here) and she told her the story - she told our receptionist to have me call her and she would take me on as a patient.
