I made the backgrounds a few days ago while visiting a friend. That day was the first time I had used the stencil. On the first background I made, I used it to brush on some ink—gorgeous! Then I applied ink with an ink applicator to get a more vivid look. It was beautiful too, but I bent one of the thinner connecting pieces. Next time, I'll be much more cautious.

For these backgrounds I used Brushos and water. I placed the watercolor paper on an acrylic block and the stencil on top of the paper. Thank you, Loll Thompson, for your video; this really did make it easy to lift the stencil off quickly before the water seeped beneath it. Then I sprinkled on the Brushos, sprayed with water, and lifted off the stencil. I placed another piece of watercolor paper on top of the wet stencil and pressed down with my fingers. That gave me the reverse background that I used to make the second card.

I used the Misti to stamp the sentiments and image. I was able to stamp two or three times to get a darker sentiment, and I heat embossed it to make it stand out against that background.
