Awesome journaling and early DW history. It brought back SOOO many wonderful memories. I remember in the early 60s the neighbors would invite all the kids over to watch it on their color TV (they won on The Price Is Right). They went all out and they even had theater popcorn and steamed hot dogs if one of us had a birthday that week.

First, I love your journaling telling about the things at WDW then and comparing to now! I found that so interesting! You mentioned things I never knew about! Second - love the layout! So much fun with the pretty fall colors! Especially love the little leaves going down the sides! Where did you get the Main Street Press paper? What a great background paper for this!

I made a pocket for my journaling using the pp with the pics on it. I had too much journaling to fit on the page so I needed to find a way to include it.
Journaling: My first visit to Disney World was with Brian in the summer of 1976. It was part of a road trip with a coworker. I was looking forward to it having been a faithful fan of Disney’s Wonderful World of Color that aired on Sunday nights and highlighted Disneyland in California. It was exciting just thinking about getting to see Walt Disney World and the Magic Kingdom - there were no other parks back in ‘76. However, there was also a nature area – Treasure Island (renamed Discovery Island) in Bay Lake and River Country. We stayed at the Contemporary Resort, back then there was only the Contemporary, the Polynesian Village and Fort Wilderness.
Main Street was different back then – with theaters (showing Walt Disney story –free, and Main Street Cinema with Steamboat Willie- ‘A’ ticket), snack places, vehicles and shops. Shops included a barber shop, candy, camera, souvenirs, magic shop and more. At that time you bought admission with a ticket book – rides A-E – “E” rides being the most thrilling. The “A” rides were mostly on Main Street – the horse cars, jitneys, fire engine, and omnibus. Today only the horse cars remain, and Steamboat Willie still plays. Ticket books are gone, replaced by an overall admission. The shops have changed. The barber shop quartet still sings though the barber shop is long gone.
It was exciting then and still is after all these years and many visits to go back to the Magic Kingdom and walk Main Street up to Cinderella’s Castle. It was where the “magic” of WDW began for me.
