This LO represents me in so many ways! I've been a Star Wars fan since the first movie came out when I was 7 years old. And now it seems so perfect that my fur baby's birthday is on May 4th (Star Wars Day a la "May the Fourth (Force) Be With You").

After seeing Ken Oliver create galaxy background cards on Scrapbook.com's YouTube channel with his Color Bursts, I knew I had to give that a try. I LOVE how this scrap-lifted background came out!

The layout features a picture of my El Bandito (he's a Havanese) that I fussy cut out. I also fussy cut out a bit of textured paper that I inked (aged) with Distress Inks to create a faux Ewok hood. I added some knotted twine over top of the hood to mimic the Ewok hoodies.

I printed out the title and sentiment on my computer using Microsoft Word's Word Art function to create that receding yellow text look (like the text in the opening scene of every Star Wars movie) on vellum paper. Then because the text was hard to read, I backed it with white card stock. It was still hard to read so I printed everything out onto another piece of vellum with black ink and layered that on top. If you look carefully, now you can see the text clearly and there is a yellow glow around each letter. Whew! What looks deceptively clean and simple (my preferred style) actually has a lot of different mediums and thoughts behind it. LOL The layout follows a CAS sketch from the current My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #331 (sorry not sure how to add the sketch to this post but here's the link: http://www.cardchallenges.com/search/label/sketchchallenge)
