LOVE this!!! Your title grabbed my attention and then all the design and details sucked me in! So much fun, and what a precious memory. Enjoy it now - they grow up alarmingly fast.
What a darling page, and that quote is so cute, and so perfect for this darling photo. The story behind it makes it even more special.
Just an overall delightful layout.
This page definitely made me smile! Our dd's are so much alike! I think they would be best friends for sure! Love how you changed the color on the photo to make her outfit stand out!
What a great design and I love what you did with the pic - really brings home the meaning of the title. I love this so much, it's going into my favorites!
Oh my funny little Miss Independent! We had just spent half a day picking strawberries and blueberries at a local farm and then took the kids to McDonalds for lunch and some play before we drove home. That day McDs was offering a free mini cone to all kids. Well of course my DS and his bestie went right up the counter and asked for theirs as we were leaving (shamelessly trying to sneak out without them remembering... more fool us).
When my DD saw them, she naturally wanted her own. In my head I was thinking "her with a cone... in my car.... gaaah!" So I asked the clerk if he would mind giving me a bowl for her to eat it out of. Well she was having NONE of that. If she was going to get a cone like the big kids she was darn well gonna get the cone! *sigh* So there she is, proudly eating her cone right along with her bro and 'sister'.
And then when we stopped by the car to take a picture, she put her leg up... like a flamingo (in pink no less). My BF and I cracked up and got it on camera. And all I kept thinking when I saw this photo was - my little Miss Independent! Not even two yet and she already exerts her opinions and dances to her own tune. She's going to be a force and I hope a good one!
The flamingo quote came to my mind as soon as my friend remarked she looked like a flamingo and I knew I would scrap it this way. I used my favorite app ColorPop to grey out the rest of the photo except for my little flamingo. Rather fitting she was wearing pink that day, wasn't it? LOL I'd like to think I had that kind of Scrap-Mom-ESP...
Anyway, I found this awesome paper pad over the weekend by DCWV, called Watercolor Tropical. Its chalk-full of lovely tropical papers with a soft watercolor look to the graphics. There are flowers, fruit and flamingos - perfect for this page! I saw this darling page 'You Make Me Happy' by Mmgallant seen here:
I knew I had to lift it! So I'm including it in the Scraplift Your Faves challenge.
Mostly this is for the May 5 Ingredients Challenge. The ingredients were: pink, hearts, square(s), words and twine. And for the May Music Inspiration Challenge. My song was Independent Woman by Destiny's Child, which I LOVE and was listening to as I was creating this page. I used the line 'it ain't easy being independent' in the journaling under the photo, but really, the whole page was inspired by flamingos and that song. Also entering in the NSD Crafting Challenge as this is another reason why I scrapbook. Humor. I looove to created pages that tickle the funny bone and entertain. It's my warped sense of humor or maybe my relentless optimism that makes me reach for projects that make me smile, which is exactly what this one did. And it came together really fast! For International Migratory Bird Day - although I don't think flamingos are migratory... hehe And for my Hoarders challenge... the papers might be new, but all the embellishments are OLD! TFL!
