Another project born out of the creative chaos that is my brain. I am a hopeless romantic and a voracious reader and lover of love stories. This project came about after reading one of those love stories that is so profound and soul-moving it literally causes my brain to tingle. From that idea, I thought I would try my hand at some mixed media art, using some of my most favorite love quotes, since I have, oh let's call it a 'few'. (I already have Vol 2 and 3 on the table, if that's any indication... LOL)

Anyway, these are a few of my top faves, in no particular order (though I did number them):
1 - "I love you." "I know." Princess Leia to Han Solo; Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back
2. "You must know it was all for you." Fitzwilliam Darcy to Elizabeth Bennett; Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
3. "After all this time?" "Always." Severus Snape to Albus Dumbledore, about Lily Potter; Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

See? Brain tingles.

Now, on to the project. I have probably 10 packs of these 5x7 pre-gesso'd Artist's Canvases from Aaron Brothers that my boss gave me when we were moving offices and they've just sat and sat in my stash. While pondering on this project, I remembered them (and found them... which is the greater miracle here) and pulled out a pack. I've always wanted to try something like this. It calls to the type of artist I was in my youth. I am now wishing I'd taken progress photos as it would be fun to look back on how I did them.... but perhaps I'll learn for Vol 2 and 3....

So, while watching a movie late with DH over the weekend, I spread out on the floor and got messy.

Here's a (sort of) short list of my progress:
Gesso
Layer torn pieces of the paper with matte Modge Podge
Determine which quote needed which color(s).
Color/scribble with gelatos
Blend with finger or baby wipe.
Blend again.
Wipe and add more of the dark or light color.
Glue on hand-cut heart
Mask with texture paste
Mask with ink
Stamps.
Ink edges.
Doodle with pen and gelato/gesso/stamp on hearts to define
Seal with Modge Podge
Stamp quote with key word enlarged on paper strips.
Add 3D embellishment(s)

And there you have it!
These are also for my Hoarders NSD Challenge: Secret Passion. For me that's my dormant love of art and love stories. And for National ___ Day.
Blue - Star Wars Day, May 11th
Pink - Be a Millionaire Day, May 20th :)
Green - National Train Day, May 13th
And the set for Eat What You Want Day - because love stories (and wine, chocolate and sports) are my little indulgences!
TFL!
