JOURNALING:

January 17, 2006 (Madeline: age 6. Kenzie-Lynn: age 4 1/2. Cortland: age 4 months)

Sometimes it just hits me how wonderful my life is. I’m sitting at my computer watching KL work on her new “home school” page. I think about the day I’ve just lived and it brings tears to my eyes. Good tears. Not bad tears. Being able to stay at home with my children is such a gift. Not just for my kids, but also for me.

This has been my day: It started at 7:00am- nursed Cortland. Kenzie-Lynn climbed up on my bed with her Jesus book and read to Cortland while I got dressed. I made the bed, took C. to lie on his mat and I ate a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios. I did a load of laundry (washed, dried, folded and put away), talked to my mom for an hour (!), washed dishes, decorated the dining room table, checked my e-mail, nursed Cortland, cleaned out the refrigerator, typed the journaling segments for Gigi’s gift album, made lunch (hot dogs, carrots/celery w/ranch dressing and fruit), washed dishes, finished Gigi’s album, went to read KL her naptime story but she was too tired and wanted to go to sleep (!), straightened SOME of the scrap area, nursed Cortland, finished the Valentine THANK YOU page, re-scheduled my dental appointment, put rain coats on the three of us and since the weather was warm we took a walk down to the mailbox (no mail!), pulled the Yukon out of the garage and let KL push C. around in his stroller inside, put Lucy in her pen in the garage, made a chocolate cake, heated the vegetable soup for dinner, made cornbread, washed dishes and cleaned the kitchen, set up the coffee maker for tomorrow, did another load of laundry, looked at the calendar for tomorrows events, started writing this, took a shower with Kenzie-Lynn, served dinner, nursed Cortland, washed dishes and cleaned the kitchen, frosted the cake, served the cake, worked on my Calendar Album and watched the Golden Globes, put girls to bed, nursed Cortland, put him to bed, finished watching the Globes, finish writing this… I will now switch a load of laundry to the dryer, start the dishwasher, brush my teeth and get ready for bed, get cozy in bed with Sam and fall asleep! (Throughout the day I also changed diapers, read some of “Happy Housewives” by Darla Shine, read some of Lisa Bearnson’s book “Family Scrapbooks,” talked to Sam on the phone multiple times and answered tons of questions from Kenzie-Lynn.)

Whew!... A day in my life.... Man- I do A LOT!!!
