Last December, Tom and I went on vacation to San Diego. We stayed at a nice little cottage in Oceanside, which is the home of Camp Pendleton where I was born. We spent days at the beach, did every "tourist" thing that we could think to do, and had a great time.

One of the fun events was snorkeling with the seals at LaJolla Beach. Our guide thought we were crazy. Nobody snorkels in December when the water is 56 degrees, but it was well below 30 when we left home, and we assured him that we would be fine. He said, "you have to understand that the water will be cold." And we said "ok" and then waited for it to GET cold.

This was a tremendous experience. The seals, while wild, are fairly tolerant of human presence and they swam around and under us while we were in the water, checking us out, but never really coming close to or threatening us in any way. We explored the LaJolla underwater caves and saw lots of sea life. Our guide was fantastic, and while I'm not a great swimmer, I never felt the least bit worried about being in the water.

I didn't take my camera the day we went snorkling, but we went back on our way to San Diego the next day and I was able to get some terrific pictures. These are just a few - there were so many it was hard to pick just four... but sometimes you have to know when enough is enough.

This is for the One Page Sketch Challenge - Sketch #4. You can see where I put my paint dots on a clear transparency, but that'll be invisible once it goes into my page protector.

Everything here is old paper and old rub-ons. And this does it for me for the June Sketch Challenges! What a fantastic way to get projects done!
