Love the lo and the story. I wish I'd have kept my mother's old Singer sewing machine. In her later years she kept her plants on it and the cabinet got ruined!! I wasn't into refurbishing so I just got rid of it and I'm so sorry I did.
Oh..aren't those two little machine so lucky to go to a place where they are loved. The first thing that I purchased when I began working in 1963 was my sewing machine. Sadly she was damaged in a house move a long time ago but she was loved and replaced. the new comer was well used until recently when I stopped doing so much sewing and started scrapping!!! A lovely page and life story.
This was made for a few challenges. National _ Day. In honor of June 13th- National Sewing Machine Day! Mixed Media, Pick-a-technique. Journaling: I fell in love with sewing when I was 6 years old. From then on, it became my passion. I took every type of sewing classes, even Tailoring in High School. I got a degree in Fashion design. Taught sewing classes at The Fabric Gallery. Then, seamstress at The Theatre Company sewing costumes. Through it all… I fell in love with sewing machines. My first machine was a 1974 Elna Super. Which I still LOVE and use today, as my go to machine. But, I never owned a Singer Featherweight. The little black one… Until one Saturday in July, 2013. I drove Stephen to work and saw a Estate Sale Sign. My car went there on it’s own… Then I saw it, she was gorgeous!!! It looked like the owner had received it as a wedding present in 1951, maybe used it a few times. I felt that $350 was not a bad price for the shape she was in, so I bought it! So, now I had one!!! Not a month later, a co-worker said that a little old lady in their church quilting club was selling her’s. Same year but, not in as good of shape…. I said I would not pay more than $250. So, I now have TWO!!
