Beautiful layout of a wonderful memory. I confess to getting a bit nostalgic whenever I hear an old IBM Selectric whir to life on TV shows about the days before word processors, so I know just how you feel.
Awesome vintage feel to this and so beautifully done! Love it all! It's funny that I sometimes write something by hand and think it looks like it's spelled wrong, then wait for the little wavy spell-check lines to show up, soon followed by feeling like an idiot (who spends too much time on a computerd!)
OMGOSH~ I absolutely LOVE this! The title is fantastic and all the old vintage papers and embellishments are just so perfect. When I went to HS, my typing class had three electric typewriters and 17 manual ones. Everybody tried to get there early to get one of those coveted electrics! I'm pretty sure that this layout is going to kick me into the Oxides fan club. It really is fantastic. Faves for me!
I love all the layering you have done. This is such a great design and I love that typewriter. It brings back such memories...I was never a very fast typist. I love the texture on this page and your inking is wonderful. Beautiful work.
I just love when you get all shabby-chic; a style I cannot do! Love the way you allowed the rose from the BG to be displayed w/out taking away from the rest of the design and love that funny/clever title!
Fabulous vintage photo and page!! I love the titlework, punchwork, and background! Very cool! Thanks for playing in the June Sewing and Mixed Media Challenges!
The first typewriter I ever used! (And yes, I still own it!)
The journaling reads: "My dad's old Olympia, where I learned to type. I never did have the finger strength to type fast! I may have a computer now, but there is something I love about this 'old school' machine."
Challenges: -Mixed Media: I have Distress Oxides, paint splatters, and nuvo paste! And I have the twist of 'vintage' style! -Inspired By A Word: Inspired by "dad," but no twist, non of the letters are chipboard. -Pick-a-Technique: Of the three techniques, I used distressing & punching, so I have the twist of using 2 or all 3! (The only "spraying" I did was with water to activate the Distress Oxides.) -Hoarders: Yeah, basically everything came from my stash. -Sewing: I used a satin, teal thread across the top of the film strip edged paper. And, I have the twist, the tag the journaling is on is chipboard.
Other Products: -Shimmerz Paint: "Coal" -Hip Kit Club Exclusive Alphas for "Spell" -The button/flair: {A Flair For Buttons} Etsy Shop -The papers under the photo, the swirly gold paperclip, the heart, and "captured" all came in a RAK from Vivian (May 2017 Not To Be Squared Challenge) -A bit of hemp twine -Teal thread
