This is my foster failure, Riley. I've had him almost five years now, and he's one of the best dogs I've ever met.

The part of his story I know is one of being abandoned, left to fend for himself or starve, picked up by the pound, pulled by a rescue, and then left in boarding for four months while he waited for a foster family. Enter me.

He was my fifth foster dog, and he decided that he'd found his forever home as soon as we stopped for chicken nuggets on the way to the house. He is incredibly protective of me, but he's willing to accept anyone that I say is ok.

He's great with kids. He has a sixteen hour wait window - he's never had an accident in the house. He's good with cats. He doesn't pester livestock. He barks at the door to come inside - hasn't chewed or scratched or torn up a single thing in the five years he's been with me.

We recently finished his Canine Good Citizen test - which he passed with flying colors in spite of the 3 minute supervised separation. He is currently doing duty as one of the "Read To Dogs" at the OKC Metropolitan Library system. We start his Canine Therapy Dog training class in August, and I hope to graduate him to visiting hospitals and schools for additional "giving back" opportunities.

He's not a particularly pretty dog - he's just a beagle mix hound - but he's loyal and devoted and he loves dinner time, which is a good time to get a cute picture if I want to take one.

He does have a tail. He's wagging it so fast it's nothing but a blur. I saw a meme the other day that made me think about this photo...

Have you ever been so happy you became a peacock?

This is my sample project for the July Design Seeds Challenge in the SB.com challenges forum. If you're looking for something to stretch your skills, come by and take a peek in our challenge forum section. There are lots of creative hosts who put out really clever and fun scrapping challenges every month.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my project. I treasure your comments, even if I can't get around to replying. I do, however, make every effort to return the visit!
