I made this vintage-y project of my sweet 16 year old miniature poodle, Biscuit, by reversing a simple canvas and using the back edges as the shadow box frame.

I used gesso on the wooden parts of the frame edge and over the staples and chipboard key and word "Inspire" to tone down the browns before covering the whole edge with Tim Holtz tissue paper. Then onto a heavyweight watercolor paper, I used sprays, gel mediums, acrylic paints, modeling texture paste with a Gothic stencil, pearl trim (to cover the seam where the background watercolor paper didn't quite reach the edge of the frame), white seed beads, silver micro beads, antique bronze metal flowers, and an assortment of white paper flowers.

I am a newbie to mixed media, but I really do like how this came out. I know this will be a treasured keepsake.
