Such wonderful photos! I don't think we can really have word to describe the emotions of going back to any place of our great history......Great pages!!
I remember The Tour dedicated last year's race to WWII and the route went to most of the historic sites, battlefields, and monuments. It is was a somber reminder of how Hitler's hate, bigotry and unbelievable way of brainwashing a small segment of the population resulted in the near demise of our beautiful diverse planet and humankind.
Journaling: June 5, 2017. Re-enactors were in full force, mainly Frenchmen in US uniforms, strong in appreciation for what the US did at Normandy. The mood– somber; my thoughts–in awe and appreciative of The Greatest Generation. I thought of the first time I experienced Pearl Harbor, Ground Zero. To walk and see artifacts, memorials, the beaches, the crosses, the bunkers, equipment, even some of the men who survived the invasion–the emotions cannot be described.
