Oh Sharon, I don't know how I could have missed this one. It was the highlighted on the front page. So glad because your layout is stunning. You captured the vintage feel on this so well. The doilies and word paper was a terrific choice. Truly a beautiful and elegant page.
Gorgeous, the way you did the bg pps are perfect for the photo along with all the techniques and embellishments. We all have that problem of acquiring past photos with no names.....so sad
Sharon - I understand totally what you mean about preserving what little family history (stories) we know when looking at or finding old photos. You've done a FANTASTIC job showcasing this vintage photo. I love the doilies and the distressing of your background pp is PERFECT.
the heart doily looks like it has been inlaid into the newspaper bg, this is wonderful, I just love the effect and the ink distressing on the newspaper and the use of the gilding flakes, this is a gorgeous page!
I was just saying that to my husband the other day... that when we die, and our kids, die, and our kid's kids die... who will remember us? It will be like we never existed. This layout is beautiful and touching and sad all at the same time!
Oh my gosh, Sharon! This is gorgeous! I love the leather mist on the doilies to age them up, but it also adds a "golden anniversary" charm to this whole project! The torn script paper with the messy inking looks almost burnt, and definitely looks to be about 100 years old. You knocked the Vintage Challenge out of the park today! I did a layout a few years ago - titled Lost Boy - and I feel the same about old family photographs. It's so sad that these people are lost to history... not everyone can be remembered, but when the last generation who knew them is gone, it's almost like they never existed... It's just so very sad.
I love the gold and silver's in this vintage layout. The distressing and embellies are beautifully done. You are an expert with the different techniques!
As the generations before me dwindle I find myself left with more and more photographs of family members that have no name no memories no stores attached. The best way for me to preserve the few real photograph postcards is to archive them in a album. What little information I am fairly certain of: The pictures are from the 1930's Taken in the Midwest possibly in Iowa obviously during the winter months.
