One of the things Tom and I did when we vacationed in New York last July was take the Clipper Ship Harbor Lights tour.

We started sailing up the East River while there was plenty of daylight, but as we turned back around to come down to the tip of Manhattan again, the sun started to go down and the lights started to come on and the view went from incredible to absolutely spectacular.

I love this picture that I took of the Brooklyn Bridge - with One World Trade in the background, the heaven shine of the clouds behind it, and the bridge shrouded in the dark of early dusk. The reflections of the water ... I just think it's a great photograph.

I used a lot of shimmer on the beige background paper - and I also did quite a bit of wet distressing to it as well. The camera just can't pick up the shine of the base paper, but it does seem to be happy with the shimmer on the blue cut circle - which is done with Buccaneer Bay Blue Moonshadow Mist from Lindy's Stamp Gang.

The flourish - that's an old technique that I pulled out of my hat. I have several clear templates that I created from old bling shapes that I used on pages. I use a sharpie marker to outline that shape on the transparency. Then I go in with a prick pen and mark the spots on my paper. Then I go in with a small bottle of Scribbles paint - in this case Slick Black. It takes a while to dry, but one bottle of paint will last a bazillion years, and it's only like 99 cents a bottle, so that's a whole lot cheaper than a new bling shape when you don't have a project that just demands one....
