THis is my favorite, thanks for the instructions.. i may have to try this one! Especially if ornaments go on sale after the holidays! got to have next year in mind. this is my pick though.
AND THE WINNER IS .... THIS TREE ORNAMENT.
I stopped in my LSS to check out the competition again and to see what NEW things they had added .... I was told that I won! Woooohooooooo!
Both ornaments are great, but to me this one really shines. I love the 3-D effect - not to mention your skill at getting everything in there so nicely!
Love this!! Where did you find your snowflakes, I have been hunting for some? I am doing my tree in snowmen and snowflakes, the snowflakes that you used would work great one the bulbs that I added glue & glitter in.
Both ornaments are awesome but I like this one the best. Lots of detail, unique idea, I have never seen one made like this. I hope you win the contest!
My Tree Ornament.
Okay, here's how I made it. Long tweezers were my friend in this project. It helped greatly with placement of things and opening the tree.
=============
GLASS ORNAMENT: Purchased from Michael's, it was the large circular shape.
TREE TRUNK: Take brown or bark-like paper and make about a 3" long x 1.5" wide strip. Wrap around a pencil and adhere edges. Cut four 1/4' slits on bottom and fan out. Adhere fanned out bottom to inside bottom of ornament.
PRESENTS: Make small boxes for presents (or gift bags)....make sure they will pass through the mouth of the ornament! I goofed on 2 that I made because I never checked them. Set Aside. For bows I took strips of paper & quilled them & placed them to create look of bows. Adhere them around the base of trunk.
SNOW: One cotton ball, shredded and adhered around the base trunk & presents.
TREE: Start with a green semi-circle, start creases at center. Make sure you taper the folds....folds must touch at the top and be no larger than the mouth of the ornament at the bottom. Finish all folds and place rivets as decorations on the tree. Adhere edges of tree together and cut to correct length for inside of ornament. Fold in half and pop through the hold and over the tree trunk. To unfold once inside ornament with tweezers. Punch star for top of tree.
When you get things situated like you like ... sprinkle fine, silver glitter over tree. Most of it will land ontop of presents and in snow.
NOT SHOWN IN PICTURE: Around the top of ornament where you attach the hook, I completely covered the gold area show in pict with christmas red cardstock. I took words (sticker) that said "merry christmas" and wrapped it around the cap. I finished it off with white and red sheer fibers on the hook loop!
THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALLLLLL YOUR KIND WORDS AND VOTES!
Once they choose a winner at my LSS, I will post the results and a photo of the winning ornament ... even if it isn't mine!
Again everyone, thanks sooo much!
Suz
This is one of the ornaments I am considering submitting in my LSS contest. Tell me what you think. Be sure to check out the other one and tell me which you like best. Don't be shy, tell me what you don't like too! I want to win this contest.
Please note that I intent to use fibers at the top of this ornament, but have not selected them yet. The faux snow also has sprinkles of silver glitter. Also, the presents under the tree were handmade and placed (via long tweezers) under the tree. Finally, one addition has been made that is NOT in this picture. Around the gold top of ornament it has been covered with Christmas Red CS and a silver sticker placed around that that reads "---0----Merry Christmas----0---" and wraps around and meets ends. I will try to upload a fresher pict of this later. My deadline to submit is Friday!
