My September Music Inspiration Challenge entry - AT LAST!

When I saw my song pick for September (using a color in the song title or artist name) was "Still the Same" by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, I knew I was going to use the title and a self portrait since September is my birthday month. It just took me All. Dang. Month. to do it! (Really, the afore-posted cards took up most of my month - and motivation!)

Anyway, here's my self-portrait taken just after my birthday on Monday the 18th (following a wild, surprisingly really good birthday weekend)! I'm not much for selfies of just me, but I do like my eyes and they've always been my favorite feature SO I took a close-up and then used my favorite ColorPop app to gray everything else except my eyes. Since I used a filter (also in the app) my eyes look a brighter blue than they are, but I liked the affect so I kept it.

This was supposed to be for September's National Positive Thinking Day on 9/13 and the September Monthly Sketch Challenge, Week 1, but missed them both obviously... So it's going in the Second Chance Challenge. *sigh*
My thought process around the title was a little reflection of where I am at the ripe old age bracket of 'late 30s'. I don't 'feel' older or worry overly much about age. I also don't think of myself as a certain age. I suppose sometimes I look in the mirror expecting to see my 18 or 22-year-old self and am surprised when I look the same and yet not the same. I've noted a couple laugh lines and a gray hair or two, but I don't obsess about it. I see myself more that I'm getting better every year. Some things more so than others of course, procrastination and perpetual tardiness being a couple of them. But I'm still the same me - Virgo, book lover, daydreamer, artsy/creative, relentlessly optimistic (with a little realism dashed in there as part of the growth aspect), sports lover and generally happy. Those things haven't changed from when I was a kid. I've added wife, mother, full-time administrator, wine-drinker, soccer coach, taxi driver, scheduler, homework overseer, scrapbooker, blogger, Facebooker, Pinterest-follower among other things to the adjectives that describe me over the years. Its fun to see where I am now and where I'll be in another 10-20 years or so.

Overall, I'm still the same me.

I used my new favorite DCWV paper pad called Zodiac. LOVE the blues and purples and black and silver color combo - and it was perfect since I needed to use silver for the Music Inspiration twist! I got messy, inky, stampy and this came together in less than an hour once I finally just sat down and started playing. Love how it turned out!
Including in October Girls Only, October National It's My Party Day and my Indefinite Hoarders challenge.

TFL!
