I came home early from work today because I had a guy coming out to measure my living and bedrooms for new carpet. When I got out of my truck, I was met by a literal swarm of ladybugs.

The air around my truck, trailer, and home was full of the little flying beetles. There must have been thousands of them. We always get a supply of them in the spring to help as natural predators in the garden, but I've never seen anything quite like how many there were in my yard today. I could even smell their unique "beetle warning" scent as they were flying around, and it was impossible to get in the door without stepping on the ones that were crawling all over the porch.

I have no idea where they came from. I tried to get a photo of the swarm, but the ones with more than one bug in them all came out blurry because there was just so much motion the camera couldn't get a focal point.

Fortunately, this little one was over on a porch rail post all by herself, so I was able to at least document part of this incredible natural phenomenon.
