The twin fawns appear to have been weaned because their momma was nowhere to be seen. That or she's letting these two wander a bit further afield with less supervision.

Deer basically speak the same language as horses, they just speak it from a bit further away. That's probably why they aren't concerned about my being so close. I've explained to them that I don't want anything - that all I'm thinking about is getting Bonnie caught and into the trailer for my lesson.

Since I'm not behaving in a predatory way and since they're so accustomed to seeing me around, they're pretty tolerant of my being in their space, so they're continuing to talk to each other and to Java without worrying about my being so close.

Gun season starts in about a week, and then, assuming they survive the first day, they'll either be really smart about humans or they'll be dinner for some hunter's family.
