Journaling: Quick early lunch then at about one, we disembarked to get shuttle bus into the old city of Dubrovnik. Beautiful city but 38 degrees Our (sort of) plan had been to do the city wall walk and then take the cable car to the top of the mountain, but the city wall walk all but did me in! Thousands of steps, fierce sun and precious little shade! Views were lovely but NOT a walk I'd like to repeat! Sad about the cable car but something for another time!

I imagined a walk around city walls would be relatively flat, but as far as Dubrovnik was concerned, how wrong I was! Up, and down, around an about, stairs and slopes and all in excruciating heat! The views were amazing, we particularly enjoyed seeing folk on the cliffs below diving into, what must have been, beautifully cold water. When we went to dinner that evening and all related the day’s activities, our table companions were impressed - they had taken a look at the stairs up and decided NO!
