Hi everybody!!! So this was made for a friend of mine whom I grew up with. She had a brain tumor a few years back which they removed (thankfully they got it all) but after that she's had even a ruffer time. So I thought she needed something really nice to lift her spirits. I couldn't come up with a perfect sketch so the one that led to this card won out. I included an accompanying art tag with lots of quotes and saying that I thought were uplifting. I had it tie into the inside of the card, which I just wasn't happy with in the end. Actually I wasn't happy with the interior on this one at all. But I suppose we learn from our mistakes, anyway hence the reason the inside is not included.
Okay, so I started with my favorite base cardstock, which is a pearl white silk cardstock from LCI paper. They have awesome papers and a good selection. I then used the Graphic 45 Midnight Masquerade paper in the 8x8 size. I was worried when I picked this paper that is would not be light enough for the style of Shabby Chic, but I think it actually worked out nicely. I distressed the edge of the teal and navy diamond paper with Versa Magic Cloud White and the Prima distressing tool. I have falling in love with chalk ink and will have to get more. Tim Holtzs Evergreen and Seedless Preserves were used both in pad form and in reinker. I mixed the reinkers with Tims Picket Fence in Rangers Mini Misters. So I took those and misted the paper with the Evergreen, the Seedless Preserves and the Picket Fence (all done up in the mini misters), three colors in the end. Next I use Primas Texture Paste White Crackle and stenciled that through the damask stencil by Tim Holtz in his mini stencil set 4. Then after letting that dry I inked the Evergreen, Seedless Preserves and the Cloud White through the Harlequin stencil out of set 9. I think Tims mini stencils are a perfect size/dimension for cards. Unfortunately I lost a lot of the detail of the base paper behind everything which is a giant shame. ANYWAY, then I did the corset using Ribbon I inked with the Evergreen/Picket Fence blend I used. The trellis was cut on my Cricut Air and I used Bo Bunny Stamps to give a little more detail to it. The wreath was also cut on the cricut and then I painted it a teal that I mixed, then did a coat of Liquitex Iridescent Medium (for the life of me I cannot get a decent iridescent effect if I mix it into the pain, even if I use all transparents... very frustrating). Then I used teal prills on the berries part of the wreath. The lace is from Hobby Lobby. The frame is one of Tim Holtzs that I painted white and distressed. Then I used mounting tape to correct depth and add depth to the layers of paper. The bird cage is from Bo Bunny which is painted silver (it just didn't work as plain wood). The mask is fussy cut from the graphic 45 Masquerade paper. The shutters and birds (except for the largest bird) are resin and were all bought from Etsy. They were painted silver and distressed with a white wash, then dry brushed with silver. The largest bird is from Prima. The largest flowers, green leaves and green berries are from prima also and the others are a mix from hither and thither. Some of them are sprayed and/or inked with the Evergreen/Picket Fence mix. I used red stamens for the berry effect. Primas Art Stones and Mini Art Stones are mixed with Prills mini pearls. Thanks a bunch for looking :)
