Love the flag banner with the title! How wonderful for you to be able to share these years with your children - very special! Love the distressed edges and the faux stitching!
Your distressing and stitching are wonderful; as are your fun colors and banners; and I love how you put such emphasis on your family and doing things together!
This is great! I am hoping my boys will eventually go to the school I work at! They are just 2 and 4 right now.
The LO is beautiful and bright! I may have to buy one of those distressers...
You made me think of all the fun conversations I had with the kids while riding in the car. Now I do it with the grandkids. Like your bright pretty papers, and the tile in the banner.
I love love the warmth and tenderness felt when viewing this lo!!!
As a mom, I completely feel your love through and through this lo!
My motto, embrace the every moment:)))
The banner is absolutely fantastic!!!!
Another great layout Kathy - always enjoy the layouts of you and your "babies". I know exactly what you mean. My oldest son when to an out of district high school and I drove him to work every day and we enjoyed that time together so much. That is when we really talked. We had one rule and he was very aware of it. I told him if I was going to get up and spend my time take him 30 minutes to school, and then picking him up, some days 45 minutes to an hour each way if traffic was congested, his part was to leave ipods, game boys and other devices at home. It would be our time and I wasn't sharing it with ipods and things. That was my rule for any tiem I was driving my kids anywhere. We pay attention to each other. Our best conversations were in the car or later when they came home from dates because I waited up for them with a cup of hot chocolate and they would tell me about where they went or the movie or whatever. We had good talks then too. You page is beautiful - love the paper with the blue hearts. You can really see the bond you have with your kids in the pictures and layouts!
Oh, I am going to LOVE seeing how this kit evolves for you this month. It's so FUN seeing you use a fresh and different color palette, and add a whole new layer of dimension to who YOU are. I understand the feeling of traveling with your kid to school. My younger daughter and I did that while she was in middle school and early high school. We had lots of time to bond and talk about things that weren't "mom and daughter" kinds of issues. I made made it a rule for myself from the beginning of my parenting years that my truck would always be a "safe zone" where my girls never got a lecture or a scolding. I just felt like that wasn't fair since they were "captives" and couldn't get away from whatever went on inside that vehicle. So I determined that it would always be jJust conversations between two people with no "parent / child" interactions at all. It's a model we still default to when we're in the vehicle together. Amy made a comment about it the other day when she and I were out running errands - how the truck has always felt like a safe zone - which is interesting because I never told either one of them that was the rule that I'd imposed on myself. TMI. But your layout brings back a lot of memories for ME!
You choose wisely for your kit! The papers are a fun combination of color and patterns! Very summery, which I am sure your weather is this time of year!! I love the effect all the doodling have on a layout... sometimes the littlest things can have the biggest impact! That includes the distressing too!! Cute and fun!
Layout of me and my babies heading off to school. It was created for the Anything Goes challenge here, had to use pseudo kit and use lyrics from one of the songs listed. I chose Cupid Shuffle and the lyrics here we go became my title. We also had to use 3 other specs and I chose hearts, stars and arrows. My topic was mother. My journaling also incorporated more of the lyrics from the song "It don't matter if your young or old.....here we go," Being a mum that goes to school with the kids is one of my greatest loves.
I have been very fortunate to have shared the primary years of all my children as they came to the school that I taught at due to their father's illnesses and the uncertainty of when or how many times he would be in hospital over the course of a year. I love that we travelled together ever day, had holidays together and I got to see great school moments with them. These two are my youngest and the only ones still going to school. They are my babies and I will always refer to them as the babes or babies, no matter how old they get. Even though they go to High School and I am now at a different school, I still get to travel to and from with them. I cherish these times as they are drawing to an end. IN 5 years there will only be me returning on the first day of school! All of the papers used were Cocoa Vanilla - an Australian range. Love their papers.
