Mom.

Hubby drives to Tulsa every weekend to see his mom, who is in a memory care facility there. I don't go every time, but I do try to go at least every third week or so.

When we go, we always try to take her out to dinner, usually at a familiar spot. Goldies Hamburgers is our favorite. Her nephew's wife works there, so there's the double bonus of getting her out as well as getting her to a place where she can interact with family - even if she doesn't remember them.

The conversations are not very stimulating - Mom has about a two minute memory loop at this point - but she's cheerful and family is about loving and caring and taking care of each other, even when it's hard.

I love photos taken from the back. There is something about them that brings you into them in a way that a "front facing portrait" just can't do. This one - which I'm sure will be one of my favorites in years to come - does a beautiful job showing how devoted my husband is to his mother and how much she has come to depend on HIM.

There is obviously a lot of love in this photo and a history between them that goes back to a place in time that I'll never understand and never be able to share.
